Atomizer

The atomizer is a device that is responsible for converting the concentrated fluid (slurry) into very fine droplets in a spray dryer unit. Due to the key role and high importance of this process in a spray dryer unit, this device has found a special place as the heart of this production line. Because its correct operation is very important both in terms of process (production of fine droplets) and mechanical (durability and ability of the device and its stability). Both process and mechanical factors have a direct role in the quality of the produced product. When it comes to the quality of the product output from the spray dryer, it includes a wide range of customer demands. The most important of which is high efficiency. The produced powder must be produced with an appropriate conversion factor, for which purpose controlling the particle size is the most important part of this issue

Type Of Atomizers

In general, the types of atomizers used in a spray dryer unit are divided into two general  types

(Nozzle Atomizer)
(Rotary Atomizer)

:Droplet production process in a rotary atomizer
In a rotary atomizer, droplet production is based on centrifugal force. In this way, the concentrated fluid (concentrate or slurry, etc.) is injected into the center of a rotating disk with uniform pressure, speed, and flow rate. After passing through the defined path (and based on a specific mechanism for each product), this fluid is transferred to the disk environment and spread on the disk environment. Then, it is converted into very fine droplets under centrifugal force. The process of converting the fluid into a drop is very important.
Because initially, the fluid must be converted into a uniform thin film and then converted into fine droplets by breaking the molecular bond. A very important and key point in an atomizer is the compatibility of the disk with the type of product. Therefore, a unique disk must be used for each product. The centrifugal force required to break the molecular bond is different for each product. Therefore, in addition to the geometric shape and dimensions of the disk, the rotational speed is of second importance

:Rotary atomizer rotation speed
Since the basis of this type of atomizer is based on centrifugal force, a very high rotation speed must be created for it. Kian Afzar Company's rotary atomizers are designed and manufactured in the range of 7000 to 18000 revolutions per minute (rpm) with different disk diameters from 120 to 450 mm
:Rotary atomizer application
Pharmaceutical industries: Production and mixing of pharmaceutical powders, production of licorice powder, production of food supplements, production of veterinary drugs, genetics, etc
Food industries: Production of milk powder, whey powder, instant coffee powder, colored whey powder, tomato powder, egg powder
Environmental industries: Separation of solid suspended particles in factory effluents that cause environmental damage. After separation, these particles gain added value and can be reused in various industries
Including starch factory effluent
Chemical industries: For the production of various mineral fertilizers including humic acid, amino acid, phosphate fertilizer, etc
?Why is a rotary atomizer used
This type of atomizer is used for high production capacities because it covers a wide range of materials, especially materials with high viscosity (up to 20,000 centipoise)
The initial cost is much lower than the nozzle type
They have higher efficiency
They have lower energy consumption
The useful life of the device is very long
The cost of repairs is reasonable and affordable
Most importantly, the experts of Kian Afzar Company are always and everywhere supporting and accompanying you

KNZ

In this model, there is no more rotation, and the spraying is done by nozzles and high-pressure pumps that are passed into special nozzles...

Nozzle atomizers
The basis of this atomizer model is the passage of fluid through an orifice and nozzle that have a special shape. To achieve this goal, the feed must be injected into the nozzle under high pressure (150 to 300 BAR) provided by high-pressure pumps. After exiting the nozzle, the fluid becomes very small droplets and is exposed to hot air
Application of nozzle atomizer
This type of atomizer, like the rotary atomizer, is used to produce various types of pharmaceutical, food, environmental, and chemical powders. In our country, one of the most common uses of this type of atomizer is in the ceramic and metallurgical materials industries.
Advantages of the nozzle atomizer
Precise control of the size of the produced powder particles is well achieved by this atomizer model.
This atomizer model is used for sensitive and expensive materials
Easy replacement of nozzles even during production
Gives a wider range of product particle sizes (10 to 200 microns)

Disadvantages of a Nozzle Atomizer

Not very suitable for high capacities
Initial costs are high due to the high pressure pump
The parts inside the nozzle are expensive and sensitive
Nozzle clogging during production and replacement

What model of atomizer to choose and whether it is possible to install a nozzle atomizer after installing a rotary atomizer... has been resolved by a specialist of this company
A type of atomizer has been designed whose geometry is completely consistent with rotary atomizers and is easily replaceable
In some production lines, during initial installation, both the rotary atomizer and the nozzle atomizer are included in the spray dryer parts (at the customer's request) in the production line
